1929 — Library was started by members of the Waverly Branch of the American Association of University Women.  Located in one room of the National Protective Legion building on Fulton Street.

1933 — Moved across the street to the Grain Miller’s buidling.

1950  — Received the library’s Absolute Charter.

1958 — Became a charter member of the Finger Lakes Library System.

1969 — Mrs. Georgia Lunn retired after 40 years of service.  Mrs. Raymah Fraley became the new librarian.

1980 — Due to a fire in a neighboring building the library moved into the Masonic Building on Waverly Street with half of the collection.  The other half of the collection was put into storage.

1983 — The library moved into its new building — the first floor of the HUD subsidized senior citizen housing.  Mrs. Fraley retired and Mrs. Beverly Dann became the new librarian.

1985 — The first computer for public use was an Apple computer.  LePac became the public access library catalog.

1991 — Circulation was automated.

1993 — The card catalogue was retired.  Access is online only.

1998 — Became a charter member of the Valley Library Association consisting of the public libraries in Athens, Sayre and Waverly. 
Internet access for staff

1999 — Internet access for patrons.

2006 — Wireless Internet access
